Bose Professional videobars offer autoframing options to optimize participants’ presence during a call in an effort to better engage participants on the far end.

This article will help you to choose the autoframing mode that best suits the meeting needs when using VB1 or VB-S

To begin, make sure that the seating area of all meeting participants fits within the camera’s field of view (FOV). All meeting participants must be in the FOV in order for the autoframing feature to work properly.

VB1

To enable the Autoframing feature, simply press the Autoframe button on the remote control (beneath pan controls, between preset 1 and 2 buttons).

When enabled, the camera will automatically and continuously adjust the pan, tilt, and zoom settings to include all in-room participants in the re-framed image. The autoframing feature is designed to recognize the number of people in the room and include them in view during the call.

Additional adjustments to autoframing settings can be made in the Bose Work Configuration (BWC) App, such as:

  • Headroom Adjustment – users can select Sitting or Standing. These options frame participants to include an appropriate amount of space for sitting or standing positions.
  • Zoom SpeedSlow, Normal, and Fast settings available to set the speed of camera zoom while adjusting to reframe participants.
  • Pan/Tilt SpeedSlow, Normal, and Fast settings available to set the speed of camera pan and tilt while adjusting to reframe participants.
  • Autoframe Border SizeSmall, Normal, and Large options to change the amount of space around participants in the call.
  • Autoframe Information – Displays tracking data on screen.

VB-S

With two Autoframing options, the functionality outlined above is labeled Group (Conferencing) mode. This is the most common setting when autoframing is engaged. An additional Autoframing option, Individual (Follow-Me) is also available.

Individual (Follow-Me) is designed to closely follow a single participant at an accelerated pace, keeping that presenter smoothly in frame while they move regularly. Best for single presenters sharing whiteboard content or having to move around the room while presenting. This mode will function similar to Group (Conferencing) if multiple participants are in the room. Note that this mode does not attempt to identify a single presenter from among a group of people and only follow that presenter. Instead, it will attempt to keep all participants in view without letting any single participant stray from the camera frame for very long.

Users can access the mode in use by pressing the Autoframe button on the remote control. Toggling between Group (Conferencing) and Individual (Follow-Me) Autoframing modes must be done in the BWC application or WebUI.

When Autoframing is disabled, the camera’s pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) settings can be adjusted manually via the remote control, BWC, or Bose Work Mobile app.
